My professional background is in counselling, nursing, teaching, and organizational management.
My qualifications are :
I am a counsellor member of BACP and COSCA. You will find me on both of these organizations' professional registers, and I work within the ethical framework of these professional bodies.
Here is a link to the BACP website.
Professionally, I take an individual approach with clients and building a relationship of trust is fundamental to my way of working. I also firmly believe that within a safe therapeutic relationship, we all have the capacity for increased awareness, self-acceptance, personal development and change.
I adopt a personal approach to building therapeutic relationships, and I can assure you of a safe and confidential space where you won't feel judged.
As a member of COSCA and BACP, I am ethically and legally bound to abide by their code of practice. To be sure that I am working safely and professionally I have regular supervision (as required by both these professional organizations).
With over forty years of experience working in the Health, Social Care and Third Sectors I have spent my working life in nursing, care, support and education. In particular, I've worked with people who are facing and experiencing loss, grief, bereavement and transition in life.
I'm currently a lecturer at Inverness College UHI, where I deliver the Diploma in Person-centred Counselling. I am an accredited trainer with COSCA.
I also volunteer with a local 3rd sector organization, counselling people with addiction.
For over six years I managed a Third Sector Organization in Inverness and I am experienced in working with and supporting carers of all ages. I have been a carer myself.
